Dimensions Youth Ballet Company
AT A GLANCE:

Dimensions Youth Ballet (DYB) is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to provide pre-professional dance training and performance opportunities to dancers and to share their passion and the artistry of dance with the greater DeKalb area. DYB is a performance company and extension of Dimensions Dance Academy.

Our Vision

As a nonprofit organization, we are dedicated to offering a transformative dance education to children and adolescents of all backgrounds, regardless of their financial situation, and to fostering both artistic excellence and personal growth.
Our vision is to create an inclusive and supportive environment where young dancers can cultivate discipline, self-expression, and a lifelong love for the arts.

Our Philosophy

At the core of our educational philosophy is the belief that ballet is a powerful tool for personal development, teaching valuable life skills such as perseverance, resilience, and teamwork. Our dedicated instructors, all trained in classical ballet, guide students through both the technical and artistic challenges of the dance form. We foster a culture of collaboration, mentorship, and respect, where every dancer is encouraged to explore their creativity while developing the strength and technique essential for success.

Our Cornerstone

A cornerstone of our programming is the production of two pre-professional full-length ballets each year. These performances offer our students the opportunity to showcase their technical skills, artistry, and dedication on stage, while also preparing them for future professional endeavors. By participating in these high-caliber productions, dancers experience the demands and rewards of professional-level performances, learning invaluable lessons about stagecraft, teamwork, and the discipline required to bring a full-length ballet to life.

Dancer Expectations

Dimensions Youth Ballet (DYB) company members will learn to participate in a team environment and learn valuable life skills such as time management, commitment and responsibility. Company dancers are required to take all regular technique classes for their dance level, will perform in both our Winter Ballet and Spring Production, and will have opportunities to audition for additional roles in the shows as applicable. Members of DYB will also learn one production-style company repertoire piece that will be performed at community events throughout the year as well as in our Spring 2026 performance. DYB members are expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism and conduct themselves with maturity and respect as they share their passion for dance with the community.

Additional Programs within our Company

DYB Competition Team
AT A GLANCE:

This program is open to dancers entering Kindergarten through High School for the 2025-2026 season. In addition to all company requirements, Competition Teams will compete 2 group dances (company repertoire production number and 1 additional group piece) at 4 regional competitions, with the opportunity to compete in additional small groups, trios, duets, and solos. These dancers will attend additional classes and rehearsals on Monday evenings throughout the season.  This branch of the Company will  focus on training dancers in a variety of styles at a highly competitive level and emphasizing aspects of performance pertaining to commercial dance. It will also prepare dancers for a future on High School and College competitive dance teams.

DYB Ballet Honors Program
AT A GLANCE:

Acceptance to this program is by audition or invitation only and is open to dancers entering levels 1-5 for the 2025-2026 season (typically 3rd grade and up). In addition to all company requirements, dancers accepted into the DYB Ballet Honors program will attend semi-private training sessions throughout the week, as well as an exclusive Ballet Honors class on Saturdays. This selective group of dancers will learn an additional repertoire piece that will be performed in our Spring production and may be taken to YAGP ballet competition at Director's discretion.
